Total noob here trying to learn 3ds Max. Official tutorials seem super outdated and kinda confusing. Found some random YouTube stuff but no idea if they're any good. Anyone know some actually helpful courses/tutorials? Not looking for anything too advanced yet, just good basics to start with.
Here are the official resources that every beginner should start with:
Official Intro to 3ds Max:

Getting Started With 3ds Max YouTube:

Comprehensive tutorials collection:

Start with these, they cover all the basics properly.
Beyond official stuff, check:
Arrimus3D's channel for hard surface modeling
Jonas Noel for V-Ray tutorials
CGCave for fundamentals
Paul Neal for procedural modeling
Chaos TV if you're using V-Ray
Renderram for general tips
Plus this site for all latest Max updates: https://cganimator.com/unofficial-3dsmax-whats-new/
why even bother learning max when blender is free 🤷♂️
Check out Paul Neal for procedural modeling. His channel changed my whole workflow. Also, bookmark that 3dsmaxtutorial.com site, it's gonna be your best friend for the next few months.
help how do i rotate view??? tutorial says alt+middle mouse but nothing happens 😭
Been teaching Max for 5 years. Don't worry about tutorials being "outdated" - core modeling principles haven't changed since like 2010. Focus on understanding the modifier stack and Edit Poly fundamentals. That's 80% of what you need. Jonas Noel has great material tutorials when you're ready for that stage.
can anyone just send me finished project?? deadline tomorrow 😅
Digital Tutors used to be amazing but since PluralSight bought them quality dropped. I'd honestly recommend Grant Warwick's master classes if you can find them, not sure if they are still available.
Thanks everyone! Started with Arrimus3D and already feeling less lost. Those viewport navigation tips were lifesaving!
