Really want to switch from Windows to Mac (tired of hardware issues), but 3ds max is holding me back. Been looking everywhere but can't find clear info - is there ANY way to run Max properly on mac? Bootcamp seems sketchy since Autodesk doesn't support it officially. M3 chips are crazy powerful now, seems weird Autodesk isn't doing anything about this. Anyone successfully using Max on Mac somehow?

Max was built specifically for Windows architecture since 1995. Porting it to Mac would basically mean rewriting the whole program. They already have Maya for Mac users, so business-wise it makes zero sense for them. Either stick with Windows or switch to Maya/Blender/C4D.

But they managed to port other software to Mac... why is Max different?

Those other programs weren't built on ancient Windows-specific code. Max would need a complete rebuild from scratch. That's why even with M3 chips it's not happening. Maya or C4D are your best bets for Mac.

Running studio with both platforms. Tried Bootcamp - works but it's a pain. Random crashes, UI scaling issues, plugin problems. Just not worth the hassle. We use Maya on Macs, Max on Windows machines.

Thanks everyone. Guess I'll look into Blender or C4D. Shame Autodesk won't rebuild Max for Mac but at least now I understand why.
