I get frustrated looking for free models online... Every site looks super sketchy and I don't want to download viruses or use stolen content. Working on some personal projects, but can't afford paid stuff yet. Does anyone know of any safe places to get models?

Also kind of confused about what I'm actually allowed to use in my projects - any help is appreciated!

Here's what I use on a regular basis:

- Poly Haven (everything is free, even commercial)
- Epic's Marketplace has free stuff every month
- Unity Store free section
- Blender Kit

The main thing is to check the license before downloading. I got burned once by using a free model that turned out to be ripped from a game 😅

Check out Quaternius if you're into games - dude makes awesome free assets. Kenney.nl is great too for simple stuff. Both are super clear about letting you use their stuff in projects.

Watch out for sites like Sketchfab - lots of people uploading ripped game assets as "free". I have been in the business for 10 years and have seen too many developers get into trouble.

turbosquid, cgtrader has free stuff too.
